Who we are and what we do

Left to right, we are:

Nick Austin: Bodhran

Sara Barnard: Fiddle and ceilidh calling

Jilly Jarman: Whistle/flute/accordion

Andy Oakley: Guitar

What do we play?

Thoughtful harmonies, driving reels, playful jigs – this is old friends trying out new things and inviting the audience in as they explore together, with joy and spontaneity.

Jilly’s wealth of experience in jazz and improvisation meets Sara’s background in folk music education leading the quartet along new paths, weaving through rhythms, traditions, and experimentation.

With repertoire influenced by the dance traditions of the UK, Europe and beyond, Slip the Jig brings energy and warmth to every performance, whether playing tunes in someone’s living room, or filling a village hall with ceilidh dancing.

Our first gig: Burns Night at Langwathby Village Hall (Jan 2025)
